The Man. Mr. Bunn, the visionary behind Hats by Bunn, hails from Brooklyn, where he embraced his Rastafarian roots and immersed himself in the vibrant energy of New York’s fashion and music scene in the 1980s. Surrounded by a dynamic creative community that included artists and musicians like Jean-Michel Basquiat and Bad Brains – and during a time when filmmaker Spike Lee was also shaping his voice in Brooklyn – he began his journey as a street vendor, selling hats and building deep connections within the neighborhood. His first shop opened in Brooklyn, rooted in a culturally rich area known for its artistic influence and storytelling legacy, before he eventually brought his craft uptown to Harlem.
Bunn embraced the energy of the neighborhood and its rich entrepreneurial spirit, quickly becoming a staple in the community. Now located at 2283 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd, he offers a diverse range of hats for every occasion, describing his designs as “classic originals for all seasons.” His commitment to empowering individuals to express their unique style through wearable art reflects his passion for creating hats that resonate with his customers.
